New housing development of 185 houses on the land between the rear of Victoria Rd and the railway line.

There are plans submitted to TTGDC for a development of 185 2,3 and 4 bed houses on the land behind Victoria Rd and between the railway line. This land was designated for development in the adopted East Thurrock Master Plan and therefore it is very unlikely that the development could be refused on the grounds that we don't want houses there. Some members of the Stanford Forum have had two meetings with the developers to discuss the development and have made a number of changes due to our involvement. The proposal's they have submitted in our mind are probably as good as any that could be put forward. There are no flats, there is plenty of open spaces, a pond, playing field, low level street lighting and a very attractive layout.

The Forum does however have two concerns regarding the development and they both relate to access. We feel that there should be two access roads into the estate, even if one of them is for emergency access only, our other concern is that with the proposed  exit point onto the roundabout at the junction of Victoria Rd, Southend Rd and the Manorway slip road there will be even worse congestion during peak hours.

We would urge all those that wish to object to this development to do so on these grounds, as objecting on the grounds that you don't want the houses there is likely to fail. One solution to the problem would be the redesign of the junction of Victoria Rd, Southend Rd and the Manorway slip road. The Stanford Forum is in favour of the development other than the access problems.
